A practical and functional bookcase takes pride of place in any room, indeed what better way is there to
preserve and display a fine collection of legal or medical books for example.
Our bookcases range in size from a child's bookcase to a breakfront bookcase that spans several metres,
each one designed around the books it will hold, of coarse its not just books that can be stored, a vast
collection of records or cd's can be built in along with ornamental collections and televisions/hi-fi.
What is important that the final piece looks at home in terms of design and proportion to its final surroundings,
whether destined for a home, office or public building; all can be designed and specified for the client
The manufacture of period stairs and handrails are also undertaken Georgian cross banded handrail can be
supplied in short runs for repairs or replacement of a whole town house.
Bespoke radiator cabinets can be manufactured to any size or design, a wide choice of materials are available
they range from painted examples to inlaid hardwood; all are then expertly fitted by ourselves. One notable
feature is our handmade grill which is constructed piece by piece but provides a robust and attractive finish.

Donaldson Woodwork can undertake conservation work in Edinburgh's New Town, our experience and
commitment to conservation puts us in the forefront of company's capable of carrying out such work. We
regularly undertake such work to a high specification and carry a large stock of mouldings profiles.
The replacing of wall panelling, box skirting and architraves, blocks, door cases, window shutters, repairs
and replacements are all catered for, all can be specified for private, commercial and public commission.
At Donaldson Woodwork we have the ability to recreate period doors of the past as well as bring them into
the 21st century in terms of security and building / fire regulations.
Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian examples, all of which will be require to be bespoke, because these doors are
non-standard sizes.
Accurate copies of period ironmongery are used to give the finished door the correct look, we have extensive
stock of period door mouldings or a sample can be taken and a copy made.
Internal doors are manufactured in the same manor using various timbers of choice and for painted finishes can
be supplied primed, all our doors are traditionally jointed and hung using solid drawn hinges.
Fanlights of varying shapes and sizes can be manufactured and fitted to match existing where required.
